Hartlaub´s Gulls

Description
Adult Hartlaub’s Gulls are mainly white birds with a grey back and upper wings with black tips. Their legs and beak is usually a dark red colour.
Life span
May life for 20 or more years
Habitat
Hartlaub’s Gulls are confined to the productive Benguela system and the western Agulhas bank. They can be found at inshore waters, open coasts, estuaries, harbours and dumps.
Diet
Hartlaub’s gulls are omnivores, naturally feeding on invertebrates associated with stranded kelp. They will also feed on scraps, dead fish, insects and worms.
Status
Very common and abundant, endemic to Southern Africa
