Pick 'n Pay helps SANCCOB

SANCCOB Smart-Shopper-Promo-photo smallPick 'n Pay came to the rescue recently of African penguins affected by the latest oil slick in Table Bay. A total of 219 of the oiled endangered penguins, 2 Cape Gannets, 33 penguin chicks and 3 abandoned eggs have been admitted to SANCCOB since the SELI 1 caused a major oil slick in September.

 

In addition to lending a hand with the cleaning of the birds and donating R20 000 to assist with their rehabilitation, Pick 'n Pay has added SANCCOB as a beneficiary on the Smart Shopper kiosk so that smart shoppers can join Pick 'n Pay in assisting with the cleaning, feeding, medication and rehydration of the numerous birds in SANCCOB’s care. Join Pick 'n Pay in helping SANCCOB and the endangered African penguin by signing up for a Smart Shopper card and donating your smart shopper points to SANCCOB at any Smart Shopper kiosk.

SANCCOB is at the forefront of saving African penguins and other threatened seabirds.  It never takes a day off and its rehabilitation team is on 24-hour call.

SANCCOB deploys its specialist emergency response skills in Africa, the Indian Ocean region, Antarctica and Sub-Antarctic. Through its training academy it equips people to work in the environmental sector; and a passion to instill pride and knowledge about marine conservation drives its education programmes.

SANCCOB is a leader in seabird disease research.
