Pick 'n Pay came to the rescue recently of African penguins affected by the latest oil slick in Table Bay. A total of 219 of the oiled endangered penguins, 2 Cape Gannets, 33 penguin chicks and 3 abandoned eggs have been admitted to SANCCOB since the SELI 1 caused a major oil slick in September.

In addition to lending a hand with the cleaning of the birds and donating R20 000 to assist with their rehabilitation, Pick 'n Pay has added SANCCOB as a beneficiary on the Smart Shopper kiosk so that smart shoppers can join Pick 'n Pay in assisting with the cleaning, feeding, medication and rehydration of the numerous birds in SANCCOB’s care.
