SANCCOB has enjoyed tremendous support zoos and aquariums worldwide since the Treasure oil by Text-Enhance">spill in 2000. Since 2000 we have welcomed and trained many penguin keepers, veterinarians, animal trainers, bird curators, penguin biologists, aviculturists, aquarists and education officers from Georgia Aquarium, Mystic Aquarium, Jenkinson’s Aquarium, Artis Zoo, Bristol Zoo Gardens, Living Coasts, Paignton Zoo, Newquay Zoo, Busch Gardens SeaWorld, Phillip Island Nature Parks, New England Aquarium, Le Pal Zoo, Dallas Zoo, National Aviary, Seaview Wildlife Encounter and many zoos, aquariums and bird parks from all over the world.

This is not only a unique opportunity for keepers, aquarists and education staff to learn more about how to care for penguins but will also give program participants an opportunity to participate in a penguin release (weather permitting).

What can you hope to learn from this program?

Participants will work side by side with our bird rehabilitation staff, and other competent volunteers, practicing their current skills and learning how to care for sick, injured, oiled and abandoned African penguins and many other seabirds.

If you want to maximize your experience and be prepared for working with penguins and other seabirds before you arrive, then we would highly recommend that you consider completing the online e-learning course.
